You need as much flexibility as possible, and large muscles tend to restrict your flexibility as much as possible. Not everyone has been training to fight with their legs their entire martial arts life. It’s going to be a big jump to get used to that.

Learning the footwork is very difficult and takes years to actually get good with. You are going to lose many matches because it can be very difficult to master that level of balance.

This martial art isn’t great if you want to learn powerful close quarters scenarios or other fighting situations. The punching technique isn’t and great and you should try to try to focus on the legs as much as possible. Even though the flexibility is incredible, it’s not going to be optimal for building strength in the punches that you throw.

Kicking is great for delivering great strikes and blows but this also means that you can injure yourself in the process. To avoid this, you need to do a lot of stretching before and after your sessions to make sure that you minimize any injury.

Taekwondo is a great fighting style, but like anything else, it takes many years of practice to become a master.
